Customs Clearance

Declaring a car to EU customs authorities and assessing duties on entry into the customs territory.

Customs clearance is a formality at the border of the EU customs territory (usually at the port of entry, e.g. Bremerhaven, Rotterdam). On its basis, duty and VAT are assessed and the car is released for circulation in the Union.

Clearance is handled by a customs agency on the basis of the title, the Bill of Sale and the transport documents.
